MASADA FAADANAStraight Babson Egyptian
mare 1980 - 1997
Masada Faadana has been set free. Her brave heart failed her on September 17, 1997. Dr. Doster helped her find peace at about midnight. I know that my “Miracle Mare” has found a new miracle, her Wings. She was 17 years old. Faadana was a Babson of unusual pedigree in that she had no crosses to *Maaroufa, Fabah or Fa-Serr. She was a full brother/sister cross (Ibn Saafaddan x Masada Serasaada). Both were by Saafaddan (Faadan x Saaba) out of Daal Aba (Daaldan x Fay el Aba). She loved Serabaar, Midbar Fa Rabdan and Ahmed Fabah. We referred to them “her stallion collection”. Faadana was happiest when sharing fences with all of them. She enjoyed being in pasture. She was worshiped by a small pigmy goat. (Where ever Faadana went, the goat was sure to follow!) Faadana became the "Miracle Mare" in October of 1990 while in transit to our farm shortly after her purchase. Ian McFarlane of First Class Equine Transport saved her life by stopping in Albuquerque and leaving her with Dr. Jim Fallon. She had developed a heart condition while she had pneumonia as a result of Rhino-nuemanitis. She lived With Dr. Fallon from October to May. She safely foaled a lovely dark bay filly in April of 1991. Bruce flew out to Albuquerque and rode back home with Faadana and her filly in the van sized box stall that First Class had made especially for her. We would have lost her before she ever got home without the caring concern of Dr. Fallon and Ian MacFarlane.
Faadana’s 1991 daughter, Dahma Saafada (x Kamal Ibn Fabo <--- his only Straight Babson daughter) has grown up healthy and strong and has had foals of her own. She is the foundation mare of our Without *Maaroufa Babson program. I will miss Faadana greatly. She was my special mare. She taught me a lot during the years she owned us.
